Submission Guidelines

To submit your manuscript to Journal of Studies in Science and Engineering (JOSSE), prepare it electronically in Word format (.doc, .docx, .rtf) and use the online submission system after registration. Ensure your manuscript is in a single-column, single-spaced format with Times New Roman font, size 12, with no more than 8000 words for original research papers and between 5500 and 15000 words for review papers (excluding references). For blind peer review, do not include authors' names in the manuscript. Follow IEEE style for references and citations. Download the stage-one manuscript template here:

Units of Measurement

Use System International (SI) units, presented simply and concisely.

Abstract

Include a self-contained, citation-free abstract, not exceeding 200 words.

Introduction

Keep this section succinct and without subheadings.

Literature Review
Provide a concise, critical overview of relevant prior work. Highlight gaps in the literature and position the current study within the broader research context. Avoid excessive detail; focus on relevance and synthesis rather than a list of studies.

Materials and Methods

Detail procedures for repeatability, subdividing into subsections if describing multiple methods.

Results and Discussion

This section can be divided by subheadings or combined, as appropriate.

Conclusions

Summarize the main conclusions, emphasizing the work's importance and relevance.

Acknowledgements

Place acknowledgements before the references, covering any grants, presentations, etc.

References

Ensure the manuscript includes accurate references, following IEEE style. Manuscripts submitted without references will be returned.

Authors' Details

During the article submission process, details of all authors, including their emails, affiliations, ORCID numbers, and other relevant information, should be registered. The corresponding author should provide biographies for all authors during registration. Refer to previous publications for examples.

Preparation of Figures

Include all figures and tables in the manuscript file. Supply figures in bitmap formats (TIF, GIF, JPEG, EPS, etc.) at a minimum of 300 dpi resolution, unless a lower level is scientifically justified. Embed labels in separate layers if present.

Preparation of Tables

Cite tables consecutively in the text. Each table must have a descriptive title, and units should be included in the column headings. Avoid vertical rules.

Equations

Number equations consecutively.

English Grammar

Authors are encouraged to use grammar-checking software, like Grammarly, or consult a native speaker for proofreading before submission.

Original Contribution

Clearly state the originality of the scientific contribution within the manuscript.

Effective Writing

Aim for clarity, accuracy, and conciseness in your writing. Avoid overly complicated or formal language. Convey your ideas as you would in a conversation for optimal understanding.

Plagiarism

We use Turnitin for plagiarism detection. JOSSE will evaluate any plagiarism case on its merits. If plagiarism is detected at any stage—before publication, before or after acceptance, during editing, or at proof stage—the author(s) will be asked to rewrite or correctly cite the original text. Manuscripts with over 20% plagiarism may be rejected.

2. TITLE PAGE

1. The full names of all authors must be provided, along with their affiliations (department, institution, city, and country). Use superscript numbers if multiple affiliations exist.
2. The corresponding author’s details must be clearly stated, including full name, email address (mandatory), and complete mailing address. A phone number may also be included.
3. The ORCID iD of all authors must be included.
4. The total word count of the manuscript should be included, and optionally the number of figures and tables.
5. A list of keywords (typically 5–10) should be provided to assist in indexing the manuscript.
6. If applicable, disclosure statements such as funding acknowledgments, conflict of interest declarations, and ethical approvals should be mentioned.
