Combined Allocation of Renewable-Based Distributed Generators and Shunt Capacitor Banks in Distribution Networks with Electric Vehicle Load Penetration
Main Article Content
Abstract
The increasing load from electric vehicles (EVs) in distribution networks presents significant challenges, including heightened power losses and voltage deviations. This paper proposes a solution through the combined optimal allocation of wind-based distributed generators (DGs) and shunt capacitor banks (CBs). An artificial protozoa optimizer (APO) is introduced for the optimal siting and sizing of distributed generators (DGs) and combined batteries (CBs), complemented by network reconfiguration (NR). The primary objectives of this approach are to minimize active power loss, reactive power loss, and voltage deviations. Additionally, the impact of EV load penetration, ranging from 20% to 100%, is thoroughly analyzed, along with an assessment of its associated uncertainty. Various scenarios are tested on the IEEE 33-bus distribution test system. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, achieving reductions in active power losses, reactive power losses, and voltage deviations by 80.53%, 76.88%, and 69.96%, respectively. Compared to other optimization algorithms, the APO shows superior performance.
